The golden autumn curtain has risen—swing into the spotlight as the 2026 China Tennis Season officially opens, with UHS sport powering every tennis match across the nation.

From September 13 to 20, the opening ceremony of the 2026 Guangzhou Huangpu International Tennis Open and International Men’s Professional Tennis Challenger was held at the Guangzhou Development District International Tennis Academy. Now in its third year in Guangzhou Huangpu, the event brought together more than 80 elite players from nearly 20 countries and regions, uniting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area through the sport of tennis.

A Dual Celebration of Professional Tennis and Public Engagement

At the ceremony, Guangzhou Sports Bureau Director Tan Aiying, Huangpu District Deputy District Head He Yuhong, Huangpu District Education (Sports) Bureau Director Peng Xuan, Guangzhou Development District Talent Education Group Chairman Wang Zhangjun, Guangdong UHS sport Chairman Ou Xuya, Guangzhou Development District & Huangpu District Tennis Association President Zhang Yiyao, China Tennis Association tournament supervisor Lang Shuang, and ATP tournament supervisor Jaime Chavez joined forces to strike the ceremonial “first ball.” Tan Aiying then officially declared the tournament open, igniting the competitive fire of Greater Bay Area tennis.

Before the main draw, the UHS sport-sponsored “One Shot to Win” Challenge kicked off as a highlight of the event. The competition brought together 43 players from across the sporting world—professionals, top amateurs from local tennis clubs, media, and special guests—in a winner-takes-all tennis match that broke down the barrier between professionals and amateurs, letting everyday fans feel the thrill of competition. After a fierce battle, Guangdong star Zeng Yaojie took the title, with Lu Ouwen finishing as runner-up. Both players earned cash prizes, tournament tickets, Guojiao 1573, and Yonex gear, with Huangpu District Sports Bureau Director Peng Xuan presenting the awards to close out this exciting grassroots event.

Hangzhou Tennis Open | September 22–29

The tennis courts in Hangzhou will welcome a stellar field, where established legends and rising stars compete side by side. Top players including Medvedev, Rublev, and Khachanov headline the draw, while former champion Cilic and last year’s runner-up Ruwaiya return for another shot at glory.

Chengdu Open | September 22–29

From September 22 to 29, the ATP 250 Chengdu Open is set to serve. Defending champion Tabillo, Shanghai Masters champion Vacherot, Mallorca champion Fokina, and two-time Masters champion Hurkacz will gather in Chengdu, while Chinese men’s tennis rising star Shang Juncheng competes on home soil, taking on the world’s best with youthful energy and chasing career-best results.

China Open | September 28 – October 11

The 2026 China Open will be held from September 28 to October 11 at the National Tennis Center in Beijing. As Asia’s premier combined men’s and women’s event, it carries WTA 1000 mandatory status for the women and ATP 500 status for the men, spanning the National Day golden week. This year’s lineup is nothing short of spectacular: world No. 1 and defending champion Sinner, new French Open champion Zverev, Djokovic, and Medvedev headline the men’s draw; Sabalenka, Swiatek, Rybakina, and Naomi Osaka lead the women’s field; and Chinese stars Zheng Qinwen, Wang Xinyu, and Zhang Shuai play at home. Rolex Shanghai Masters | October 5–18

The 2026 Rolex Shanghai Masters will be held from October 5 to 18 at Qizhong Tennis Center, the only ATP 1000 men’s Masters event in the Asia-Pacific region. World No. 1 Sinner, Alcaraz, Zverev, Djokovic, and Medvedev headline the field in Shanghai, while Chinese players Zhang Zhizhen and Shang Juncheng compete on home soil in high-intensity hard-court battles for precious Nitto ATP Finals points.

Wuhan Open Tennis 2026 | October 10–18

The Wuhan Open Tennis 2026 will be staged from October 10 to 18 at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center. As a WTA 1000 top-tier women’s event—and the final WTA 1000 tournament of the year on the women’s tennis association tour—it offers a total prize pool of USD 4.08 million. The world’s best female players gather in Wuhan: Sabalenka, Swiatek, Gauff, and Rybakina battle for valuable live tennis rankings points, while Hubei’s homegrown star Zheng Qinwen plays in front of her hometown fans in a golden autumn tennis festival on the banks of the Yangtze.

Ningbo Tennis Open | September 22–29

As a crucial battleground for qualification into the women’s tennis association tour Finals, the Ningbo Tennis Open has long been a cradle for tennis’s rising stars. Rybakina won in Ningbo before going on to capture the WTA Finals and the Australian Open; Mirra Andreeva finished as runner-up here two years ago and completed her French Open dream this year. Guangzhou Nansha International Tennis Challenger | October 16–23

The 2026 Guangzhou Nansha International Tennis Challenger will be held from October 18 to 25 at the Nansha International Tennis Center. As an ATP 75 men’s hard-court challenger featuring men’s singles and doubles, it is a vital stepping stone for professional players aiming to climb the live tennis rankings. Guangzhou International Women’s Open | October 24 – November 1

The 2026 Guangzhou International Women’s Open will be held from October 24 to November 1 at the Nansha International Tennis Center, a WTA 250 hard-court event featuring women’s singles and doubles. Qualifying begins October 24–25, the main draw starts October 26, and the champions will be decided on November 1. As one of China’s most storied women’s professional tennis events, this edition follows the Nansha ATP 75 Challenger to form a back-to-back tennis window.
